Assam State Film Awards 2020–21 Announced; ‘Balconit Bhogowan’ and ‘Xobdo Nixobda Kolahal’ Win Best Film

The Assam State Film Awards for 2020 and 2021 were announced by Cultural Affairs Minister Bimal Borah in Tingkhong. Balconit Bhogowan won Best Film for 2020, while Xobdo Nixobda Kolahal bagged the honour for 2021.

In short films, Kumu (2020) and Xogun (2021) received the Nip Barua Award. In documentaries, Screaming Butterflies (2020) and Breaking the Silence (2021) won the Naren Barua Award.

The awards cover 40 categories to promote Assamese and regional cinema. The minister also announced Rs 50 lakh financial assistance for 10 beneficiaries to set up mini cinema halls across Assam.

The awards ceremony will be held on February 15 at Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra, Guwahati.
