Four Family Members Killed in Car Crash at Abandoned Toll Gate in Lakhimpur

Four members of a family died in a tragic road accident at an unused toll gate in Lakhimpur district on Wednesday. The accident occurred at Pathali Pahar near the Banderdewa police outpost when their car crashed into a divider at an abandoned toll plaza on National Highway 15 around 3:30 pm.

Dipankar Hazarika and his wife Pori Hazarika died on the spot, while their one-year-old daughter Bidisha and Dipankar’s father Jagyaram Hazarika died on the way to hospital.

The family was returning to Harmutty after visiting Ketela Catholic Hospital for Jagyaram’s treatment. The unused toll plaza, inactive for nearly five years, has raised safety concerns among locals due to the lack of proper speed-control measures.
