Two Suspected Extremist Links Arrested in Barpeta, Probe Underway

Two persons were arrested from Barpeta district on Wednesday for their alleged links with fundamentalist groups. The operation was conducted by the Assam Police Special Task Force in the Sorbhog police station area.
One of the accused has been identified as Sahidul Islam. Police said the suspects were allegedly found with Pakistani SIM cards and are being taken to Guwahati for further interrogation.
Officials said the arrests come amid increased security vigilance in the state following earlier crackdowns on extremist networks with alleged cross-border links to Bangladesh and West Bengal. Further details are expected after interrogation.
