Seat-Sharing Tensions Surface Within BJP–AGP Alliance Ahead of Assam Polls

The BJP’s claim that the NDA seat-sharing formula in Assam is final has not fully eased concerns within its ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP). Several constituencies, including Guwahati Central, Barhampur, Dergaon, Khumtai and Sivasagar, remain sensitive as both parties have stakes there. BJP indicated that alliance partners may contest about 35 seats, with AGP likely to get around 25. However, ticket distribution and seat adjustments have created anxiety among AGP leaders and aspirants, raising the possibility of friendly contests in some constituencies ahead of the Assembly elections.
