Eviction Drive Conducted on Tribal Belt Land Near Guwahati Airport

The district administration on Saturday carried out a large eviction drive at Islamapur village in Bongara under Azara Police Station near Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport.

The operation targeted over 500 families living on nearly 700 bighas of alleged encroached land reserved under the Tribal Belt and Block. Authorities used bulldozers and deployed heavy police and paramilitary forces during the drive.

Many residents vacated their homes before demolition, while others were seen removing belongings as houses were brought down. The area had earlier witnessed tension after some miscreants allegedly attacked officials during the serving of eviction notices.
