Gauhati High Court Orders Fast-Track Hearing of Pending UAPA Cases

The Gauhati High Court has directed all courts handling cases under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967 to prioritise older cases and ensure faster disposal, following a Supreme Court of India judgment issued on December 11, 2025.

In a notification issued by Registrar General Raktim Duarah, courts were asked to hear cases according to the order of their registration, starting with the oldest. Cases pending for over five years must be reviewed carefully, and courts have been advised to avoid routine adjournments and conduct day-to-day hearings where required.
