GMC Launches Clean-Up Drive in Flood-Hit Guwahati Areas

The Guwahati Municipal Corporation has started cleanliness and disinfection drives in flood-affected parts of Guwahati by spraying disinfectants, applying bleaching powder and clearing debris to reduce health risks after recent flooding.

However, many residents criticised the move as delayed and temporary, saying the city continues to face the same flooding issues every year due to poor drainage infrastructure.

Locals have demanded long-term solutions instead of post-flood measures, urging authorities to improve the city’s drainage system and urban planning.
