NIT Silchar Restricts Religious Activities in Common Areas

National Institute of Technology Silchar has banned religious activities in open and common areas of hostels and the campus with immediate effect. The order was issued by the Dean of Students’ Welfare as a precautionary step to maintain discipline and ensure smooth academic functioning.
Institute authorities said prior permission will now be required for such activities. The development comes after Bajrang Dal and VHP submitted a memorandum to the Cachar administration, alleging radicalisation and unlawful activities inside the campus and seeking a detailed inquiry.
