Tight Security in Place for Assam Poll Counting on May 4

The Election Commission of India has announced strict security and counting arrangements for the Assam Assembly election results on May 4. Strong rooms storing EVMs are under 24-hour CCTV surveillance and guarded by CAPF and state police personnel.
Counting will take place at 40 centres across 35 districts, with nearly 6,000 officials and 2,348 micro observers deployed. The ECI has also restricted victory processions to prevent clashes after the results.
CEO Anurag Goel said Assam recorded nearly 86% voter turnout, the highest in recent years. He added that final results may be delayed till late evening as counting of all VVPAT slips has been made mandatory.
