AGP Backs Himanta Biswa Sarma for Second Consecutive Term as Assam CM

NDA ally Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Wednesday unanimously supported Himanta Biswa Sarma for a second consecutive term as Assam Chief Minister ahead of the BJP legislature party meeting expected on May 10 or 11.

The decision was taken during the AGP legislature party meeting in Guwahati following the NDA’s massive victory in the Assembly elections. AGP president Atul Bora said the party backed Sarma’s leadership considering the developmental work carried out during his previous tenure.

The AGP also finalised key positions in its legislature party, while newly elected MLAs pledged to work for Assam’s development and protect the interests of indigenous communities.
