Three More Arrested in Nagaon Morikolong Dacoity Case, Total Held Reaches Six

Nagaon Police have arrested three more accused in connection with the Morikolong dacoity case that led to the death of a woman injured during the robbery. The arrested persons were identified as Rajibur Rehman, Rejak Ali and Nur Hussain Ali from Lakhimpur district.

Police said the accused were part of an inter-district gang involved in the robbery at Dr Saikia’s residence on April 24. Cash, jewellery and valuables were looted during the attack, while the doctor and his wife were assaulted.

Police recovered a Bolero vehicle, blood-stained machetes and mobile phones linked to the crime. Dr Saikia’s wife, Ruprekha Bhuyan, later died during treatment in Guwahati, following which police said murder charges would be added against the accused.

So far, six people have been arrested, while police suspect two more are involved in the case.
