Assam BJP Supports UCC, Seeks Faster Action Against Illegal Migrants

The Assam BJP has backed the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the State. BJP State president Dilip Saikia said the matter would be discussed with NDA allies after the new government assumes office on May 12.

Saikia also called for faster deportation of illegal Bangladeshi migrants and quicker eviction drives from forests and government land. He urged the government to provide land pattas in char areas to indigenous people.

He said welfare schemes, corruption-free recruitment, infrastructure development and improved law and order helped the NDA achieve a massive victory in the State elections.
