Actor Vijay Sworn In as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister

C. Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on Sunday, marking a major political change in the state after decades of DMK and AIADMK rule.

Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath at a grand ceremony in Chennai. Nine ministers also took oath as part of the new cabinet.

Vijay’s TVK-led alliance secured the support of 120 MLAs in the 234-member Assembly, crossing the majority mark needed to form the government. Several political leaders, film personalities and thousands of supporters attended the swearing-in ceremony.
