Court Reserves Bail Order in Zubeen Garg Death Case Till May 28

A trial court on Monday reserved its order till May 28 on the bail plea of Shekharjyoti Goswami, one of the accused in the case linked to the death of Assam’s cultural icon Zubeen Garg.

The court also concluded arguments on framing charges against all seven accused named in the chargesheet. The lower court will pronounce its order on May 26 regarding the admission of charges, including murder and cheating.

Special Public Prosecutor Pradipta Talukdar said the case could move to the evidence stage if charges are framed. Meanwhile, advocate Apurba Sharma raised concerns over the safety of the accused if granted bail amid the current law and order situation in Assam.

The Gauhati High Court is also set to hear the bail plea of another accused, Shyamkanu Mahanta, on May 22.
