Centre Reviews Assam Irrigation and Brahmaputra Water Management Projects

Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Paatil reviewed key water management and irrigation projects in Assam and the Northeast during the 6th Governing Body meeting of North Eastern Regional Institute of Water and Land Management.

The meeting focused on sustainable irrigation development, Brahmaputra water studies, climate-based research, and rehabilitation of erosion-affected families. The Centre also discussed setting up an Irrigation Field Laboratory and strengthening research, training, and academic programmes in water resource management.

NERIWALM organised 71 training programmes during 2024–25, benefiting over 2,800 participants, while continuing its M.Tech and PhD programmes in Water Resource Management.
