Assam Govt Orders Pharmacies to Remain Open During Nationwide Strike

Amid the nationwide strike called by the All India Organisation of Chemists and Druggists, the Assam government has directed that essential medicines and life-saving drugs must remain available without disruption.
The Office of the Drugs Controller ordered pharmacies linked to healthcare services, including Jan Aushadhi Kendras, AMRIT pharmacies, hospital medical stores, and generic medicine outlets, to remain open during normal business hours.
The government warned that pharmacies violating the order could face action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, including suspension or cancellation of licences. District officials and police have also been instructed to ensure uninterrupted medicine supply and protect shops that continue operating.
