Gauhati High Court Reserves Verdict on Shyamkanu Mahanta’s Bail Plea

The Gauhati High Court on Monday once again reserved its verdict on the bail plea of Shyamkanu Mahanta, one of the main accused in the Zubeen Garg murder case. The court is expected to deliver its order on May 29.
The prosecution opposed bail, claiming the case involves a “pre-planned murder” and that evidence currently supports the allegations against Mahanta. The court also noted concerns over possible flight risk, as Mahanta allegedly travelled to Malaysia after the incident.
The prosecution further alleged that Zubeen Garg’s nephew accused Mahanta of using emotional pressure and controlling tactics related to the singer’s performances.
Earlier, the hearing was delayed after Justice Parthivjyoti Saikia recused himself from the case on May 13.
