NFR Demolishes Over 200 Encroached Huts in Jalukbari Eviction Drive

Northeast Frontier Railway carried out a major eviction drive in Jalukbari, Guwahati, on Friday, demolishing over 200 huts allegedly built on railway land.

The operation was conducted with support from Assam Police, RPF, CRPF and magistrates to clear land required for railway expansion projects, including additional railway tracks and connectivity infrastructure.

Officials said the encroached area had witnessed repeated illegal occupation despite earlier eviction drives. The Railway Department stated that the clearance operation will continue to secure the land and prevent fresh encroachments.
