Electricity Consumers’ Body Questions APDCL and APGCL Donations to CM Relief Fund

The All Assam Electricity Consumers Association has criticised the donations of Rs 10 crore by Assam Power Distribution Company Limited and Rs 5 crore by Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

The association questioned how APDCL could make such a large contribution while citing financial losses and increasing electricity tariffs. AAECA alleged that the donation reflects excessive charges collected from consumers and reiterated its demand for 100 units of free electricity per month for households in Assam.

The organisation also urged the government to prioritise consumer welfare and provide relief from rising electricity costs.
