Assam Tea Prices Soar as Deckiajuli Tea Estate Sets New GTAC Record

The Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) witnessed a new record this season as tea from Deckiajuli Tea Estate sold at ₹1,103 per kg, the highest price ever achieved for CTC tea at the auction centre. Another premium lot from the estate fetched ₹973 per kg, reflecting strong demand for high-quality Assam tea.

Industry experts said the record prices indicate renewed buyer confidence and reinforce Assam tea’s premium status in domestic and international markets. Favorable pre-monsoon weather has also contributed to improved crop quality. The previous GTAC CTC tea record was ₹831 per kg, achieved by Hookmool Tea Estate during the 2025–26 season.
