Aadhaar Mandatory for Assam Students to Avail Government Welfare Schemes

The Higher Education Department of Assam has made Aadhaar numbers and Aadhaar-linked bank accounts mandatory for students seeking benefits under schemes such as the Fee Waiver Scheme, Mukhya Mantri Nijut Moina Aasoni, and Mukhya Mantri Nijut Babu Aasoni.

All colleges and universities have been directed to verify and update students’ Aadhaar details on the SAMARTH portal. Institutions have also been asked to assist students who do not yet have Aadhaar cards.

The move aims to ensure smooth processing and timely disbursement of benefits under various higher education welfare schemes across the state.
