NF Railway Engineer Arrested for Alleged Bribery

Silchar: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Senior Section Engineer of the Carriage and Wagon Department of NF Railway in Silchar for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a contractor.

According to the CBI, the official allegedly demanded the amount to clear a pending bill of around Rs 20 lakh. Acting on a complaint, the agency laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while accepting the bribe.

The engineer was arrested and is being produced before a court in Guwahati. Further investigation, including searches at the accused’s residence, is underway.
