Congress Opposes Renaming of Shaheed Ratan Kachari Road

Dhekiajuli, Assam: Senior APCC leader Debabrata Saikia has written to Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma opposing the renaming of Shaheed Ratan Kachari Road as Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee Road.

Saikia termed the decision “arbitrary and insensitive,” saying it dishonours the martyrs of the 1942 Quit India Movement. He has demanded that the government withdraw the decision and restore the road’s original name.
