Congress Criticises CM Himanta Biswa Sarma Over ULFA-I Remarks

Jorhat: The Assam Congress on Saturday criticised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over his recent remarks referring to ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah as a “revolutionary,” alleging that such statements could send a wrong message to the youth.
Addressing the media at the Jorhat District Congress Bhawan, Congress leader Mira Borthakur Goswami termed the Chief Minister’s comments “provocative and irresponsible” and questioned the appropriateness of glorifying the leader of a banned organisation. She urged Sarma to withdraw his remarks and focus on governance, warning that such statements could encourage young people to idolise militancy.
