Andrew Yule Tea Workers Warn of Fresh Protest Over Pending Dues

Dibrugarh, August 7: Around 35,000 workers employed in tea estates under Andrew Yule & Company Ltd have warned of fresh democratic protests, alleging the company has failed to clear pending wages, bonuses, arrears, medical benefits and other statutory dues despite repeated assurances.
At an emergency meeting of the Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACMS), workers adopted a 10-point charter of demands and set August 20 as the deadline for implementation. Union leaders said a statewide agitation across Andrew Yule tea estates in Assam will begin if the demands remain unmet.
