CM Sarma Outlines Vision for a Peaceful and Self-Reliant Assam

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, addressing the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Guwahati, said the state was moving towards a self-reliant, peaceful and opportunity-driven future through infrastructure, investment, industries, technology and reforms. He highlighted Assam’s economic growth, new industries including semiconductor manufacturing, improved connectivity and plans to create more career opportunities for young people within the state.
Sarma also announced proposed measures for the welfare of abandoned women, including salary deductions from government employees who abandon their wives without legal divorce. He stressed stronger action against child marriage and highlighted Assam’s sporting achievements, social harmony and the contributions of Swargadeo Chao Lung Sukapha to the state’s history of unity and coexistence.
