Assam–Meghalaya Vehicle Blockade Continues for Second Day

Guwahati: Vehicular movement between Assam and Meghalaya remained disrupted for the second consecutive day on Friday as protesters at Jorabat continued to block vehicles bearing Meghalaya registration numbers. The agitation follows reported violence during a KSU rally in Shillong, with protesters demanding accountability and stronger security for Assam residents and commercial drivers travelling through Meghalaya.
The protesters warned that the blockade could intensify if their concerns remain unaddressed, while several drivers reported difficulties travelling along the Guwahati–Shillong route. Protesters also claimed they had not received any formal communication from either government regarding their demands.
