Assam Rifles Recovers Major Cache of Arms and Explosives in Manipur

Imphal, August 22: Assam Rifles, in coordination with other security agencies and local police, has recovered a major cache of arms, ammunition and explosive materials during two intelligence-based operations in Churachandpur and Tengnoupal districts of Manipur.

In the first operation, carried out in the Sekhen area of Churachandpur between August 17 and 18, Assam Rifles, the Territorial Army and local police recovered several firearms, including .22-calibre, 12-bore and 9 mm weapons, along with ammunition, fired cases, jungle boots, clothing and body-protection equipment.

In a separate joint operation on August 20, Assam Rifles and Moreh Police recovered a larger cache near BP 73 in Tengnoupal district. The seized items included rifles, pistols, single-barrel weapons, country-made firearms, suspected explosive devices, drone bombs, grenades, a tear-gas gun and protective jackets.

The operations were carried out based on intelligence inputs as part of ongoing security and counter-insurgency efforts in Manipur. Assam Rifles said the recovered arms and other warlike stores were seized following the joint operations.
