Long queues were seen at petrol pumps across Shillong as residents rushed to refuel amid fears of a possible disruption in fuel supplies to Meghalaya. Rumours and social media messages about a potential fuel shortage triggered panic buying and traffic congestion.

The concerns come amid the ongoing Jorabat road blockade over alleged attacks on Assam-registered vehicles and tourists in Shillong. Meanwhile, protesting cab drivers have demanded compensation for damaged vehicles and called on both the Assam and Meghalaya governments to intervene and resolve the situation.
