Gauhati University Student Found Dead in Dharapur Homestay

GUWAHATI: A Gauhati University student, identified as Nimisha Thakuria, was found dead in the Garal area of Azara, hours after she reportedly told her mother that a friend had physically assaulted her. According to reports, Nimisha had left her Dharapur home around 11 pm to stay with a friend at a homestay called ‘Rudra’s Kitchen’ and later made the phone call before contact was lost.

The family alerted Azara Police after her mobile phone was found switched off, following which police launched a search and recovered her body. Nimisha was enrolled in a five-year integrated course at Gauhati University. Police sent the body to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examination, while an investigation into the circumstances of her death is underway. Further details are awaited.
