Assam Cabinet Approves 12% Reservation for Ex-Agniveers

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, has approved 12% reservation for ex-Agniveers in recruitment to Assam Police, Fire and Emergency Services, SDRF, Prisons, Forest and Excise departments. The benefit will be available to ex-Agniveers who are permanent residents of Assam.
The Cabinet also approved a ₹10,200-crore Dalmia Bharat investment for a cement plant and several infrastructure and policy measures. These include restructuring the PWD’s NH wing, waiving green cess on transfers of eligible electric and CNG vehicles, and preparing a DPR for extending Guwahati’s Brahmaputra riverfront from Kachari Bazar to Kamakhya.
