Centre Approves Centre of Excellence for Classical Assamese at Tezpur University

Tezpur: The Centre has approved the establishment of a Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Studies in Classical Assamese at Tezpur University. The initiative aims to promote research, digitisation, preservation and wider dissemination of Assam’s linguistic and literary heritage.
The Ministry of Education has also approved similar centres for Bengali, Pali, Prakrit and Marathi at universities across India. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma welcomed the decision, calling it a significant step towards preserving and promoting the Assamese language for future generations.
