GMCH Records 114 Road Accident Cases During Durga Puja, Nine Brought Dead

Guwahati: The Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) recorded 114 road accident patients between October 16 and 21 during the Durga Puja period, with nine brought dead, Superintendent Dr Devajit Choudhury said. Of the remaining patients, 82 were admitted, including 67 men and 15 women. The number of accident cases declined by around 15 per cent compared with the same period last year.
Choudhury said nearly 20 per cent of admitted patients were in serious condition, with head injuries among the most common. Two-wheeler riders accounted for around 70 per cent of the cases, while the 15–30 age group formed the largest share of admissions. The hospital also treated 11 children aged between five and 15 years.
