East Nalbari Villagers Seek Action Over Elephant Incursions

Nalbari: Residents of several villages in northern East Nalbari have appealed to Forest Minister and local MLA Jayanta Mallabaruah for lasting measures against recurring wild elephant incursions. Villagers reported damage to homes and crops, along with fears for their safety following past fatal attacks.

Groups of elephants have recently damaged ripening paddy fields, leaving farmers worried about losses ahead of harvest. Residents said repeated Forest Department efforts to drive the animals away over the past several years have failed to provide lasting relief.
