Women’s Organisation Demands Swift Justice in Nagaland Assault Case

Hundreds of protesters led by the Nerhema Women Organisation (NWO) staged a peaceful rally at the Chiephobozou Town Council Office on Friday, demanding swift justice for a woman allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted by a taxi driver on October 17. The victim was reportedly travelling from Kohima when the driver diverted towards the Chiechama–Botsa route, where the alleged assault took place.
Supported by the Northern Angami Women Organisation and the All Nagaland Taxi Association, protesters submitted a memorandum to Additional Deputy Commissioner Ruopfukuotuo Noudi, demanding a fast-tracked, impartial investigation and strict legal action. They also called for stronger safety measures for women travelling alone and warned of further protests if justice was delayed.
