48-Hour Shutdown in Manipur’s Kangpokpi Over Suspected Abduction of Two Kuki-Zo Youths

Kangpokpi: Normal life was disrupted in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district following a 48-hour shutdown called by the Committee on Tribal Unity (CoTU) over the suspected abduction of two Kuki-Zo youths, Thangginlun Chongloi (21) and Paoginlal Hangsing (20), who went missing on October 28.

The shutdown, from October 29 to 31, affected markets, transport and educational institutions, while essential services remained exempted. CoTU demanded the youths’ safe release and warned of intensified protests, as authorities continued efforts to trace them.
