Manipur Police Arrest 10 in Crackdown on Illegal Gambling and Armed Intimidation

Imphal, November 4: Manipur Police arrested ten individuals in separate operations across Imphal East district on Tuesday. Eight people were detained during raids against illegal lagao gambling in areas including Koirengei–Heingang and Kongba Ucheckon. Police seized dice, gambling platforms, betting charts and other materials during the operations.

Meanwhile, a joint team of Imphal East Police Commandos and 31 Assam Rifles arrested Pukhrihongbam Shanta Singh (47) and Sapam Premjit Singh (56) from Arapti Mayai Leikai for allegedly threatening residents with firearms. Security personnel recovered a .32-calibre pistol, 16 live rounds of ammunition and a Honda Activa scooter. Further legal proceedings are underway.
