Naga Organisations Hold Massive Rally in Ukhrul, Demand Withdrawal of Assam Rifles

Ukhrul, Manipur: Naga organisations staged a massive rally in Ukhrul on Thursday, November 5, demanding a political resolution to the Manipur crisis, an end to what they described as a proxy war against the Naga community, and the withdrawal of Assam Rifles from Naga-inhabited areas.

Organised by Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and other Tangkhul organisations under the United Naga Council (UNC), the rally disrupted normal activities in Ukhrul. Protesters also demanded the abrogation of the Suspension of Operations (SoO) agreement with Kuki militant groups. A similar demonstration was held in neighbouring Kamjong district.
