A 3.6-magnitude earthquake strikes central Assam

Central Assam was struck by an earthquake on Monday night with a magnitude of 3.6, according to an official report.

A National Centre for Seismology report said the tremor was registered at 7.12 pm, epicentred in East Karbi Anglong district on the southern bank of Brahmaputra, at a depth of 23 kilometres. The epicentre of the earthquake is precisely located close to the border of Nagaland, approximately 170 km east-south-east of Guwahati. The shock was also felt by residents of the nearby West Karbi districts of Anglong, Hojai, Dima Hasao, Golaghat, and Nagaon.
