AASU Opposes The State Government’s plan to make maths and science classes in English

On January 24, the All Assam Student Union (AASU) staged a demonstration in Margherita, Tinsukia district, to express their strong opposition to the state government’s recent decision to require English as a medium of teaching for science and mathematics starting in class 6.

Members of AASU are outraged by the plan, they argue it poses a threat to the growth and preservation of Assamese, Bodo, and other indigenous languages.
