AASU Slams Modi Govt Over Illegal Migrants Issue

AASU president Utpal Sarma criticized PM Narendra Modi for failing to deport illegal migrants, despite his 2014 election promise. He urged Modi to take lessons from former U.S. President Donald Trump, who acted swiftly on deportation. Sarma also highlighted Supreme Court and Gauhati High Court rulings criticizing the government’s inaction. He accused the Centre of welcoming foreigners through the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019, instead of deporting them. AASU also demanded NRC reverification, alleging that both the Central and State Governments lacked commitment to preparing an accurate NRC.
