AFSPA may likely be lifted from Assam by end of year: CM

With the continuous improvement of law and order situation in Assam, AFSPA will likely be lifted from the entire state by the end of this year, said chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday.

The Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) empowers security forces to arrest a person without a warrant and enter or search premises without a warrant.
