AICCTU Opposes Assam Govt Order on Contractual College Staff

The AICCTU Assam State Committee has strongly opposed the Assam Higher Education Department’s directive banning engagement of contractual teaching and non-teaching staff in government and provincialized colleges.

The union termed the decision “inhumane and arbitrary,” warning that removal of existing contractual staff could create a major shortage of teachers and disrupt academic activities in colleges.

AICCTU demanded immediate withdrawal of the order and called for regularization of contractual employees, stating that many have served institutions for years on low salaries.
