AIECA to Hold Convention Against Prepaid Smart Meters and Electricity Privatization

The All India Electricity Consumers’ Association (AIECA) has announced a national convention in New Delhi on March 4-5 to oppose the prepaid smart meter system, electricity privatization, and the Electricity (Amendment) Bill, 2022. The All Assam Electricity Consumers’ Association will also participate, with over 200 members from Assam joining the event. State convener Ajay Acharjee stated that consumer associations across India are uniting against “anti-people” power sector policies. The organization has called on citizens to join the movement against rising electricity costs and unfair policies.
