AJP Reviews Poll Defeat, Plans Organisational Revamp

The Assam Jatiya Parishad has started reviewing its poor performance in the Assam Assembly elections and is preparing long-term plans to strengthen the party organisation and regional politics.

AJP president Lurinjyoti Gogoi said the party discussed reasons behind the Opposition alliance’s failure, including weak organisational expansion, political polarisation, money power and intimidation tactics.

The party, which contested 10 seats in alliance with Congress, failed to win any seat. Gogoi said AJP will continue focusing on protecting Assam’s language, culture and identity while preparing three-year and five-year organisational plans.
