AKRSU Demands ILP, Tribal State Status, and ST Tag for Koch-Rajbongshis

The AKRSU staged a protest in Raha demanding Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Assam, tribal state status, and ST recognition for Koch-Rajbongshis. The protest, backed by Janajati Suraksha Parishad, also called for Clause 6 of the Assam Accord to be implemented. Meanwhile, tribal groups oppose granting protected status to Koch-Rajbongshis in certain areas, warning of legal and public pushback. A public awareness campaign is planned for April 8. The Koch-Rajbongshi demand is part of a broader call by six communities for ST status, which is yet to be approved.
