Alert issued as water level rises in Meghalaya’s Umiam Dam

Since the water level downstream of Umiam Dam reached 3205.75 feet as of July 14, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Ri Bhoi district, Meghalaya, has issued a warning to residents living there.

However, to reach its full capacity, the Umiam dam needs an additional 15 feet of water as it can only contain 3220 feet of water at once.
