Alleged Assault on Assamese Student Sparks Outrage, BMTC Promises Inquiry

An Assamese student, Kamrul Hoque, was reportedly assaulted by Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) staff for not having a bus ticket. The incident, which occurred on March 25, led to widespread condemnation. Bengaluru Bus Travellers Association criticized the assault, emphasizing the challenges faced by out-of-state travelers. Hoque, in a complaint to Bengaluru Police Commissioner, detailed the harassment and loss of Rs. 450. BMTC responded promptly on social media, assuring an inquiry and promising action against the perpetrator.
