Amit Shah Steps Up Campaign in Assam, Targets Congress Ahead of Polls

Amit Shah intensified the BJP-led alliance campaign in Assam, addressing a rally in Kaliabor in support of Keshab Mahanta ahead of the April 9 Assembly elections.

Targeting Congress, Shah alleged that the party failed to deliver development during its 15-year rule and neglected key sectors, including environmental protection. He claimed encroachment during that period harmed Kaziranga National Park, adding that the NDA government restored its global appeal.

Taking aim at Rahul Gandhi, Shah contrasted financial allocations, stating Assam received significantly higher funds under Prime Minister Narendra Modi compared to the previous Congress regime.

On encroachment, he said action was against “infiltrators,” not indigenous Muslims. He also highlighted improved law and order, noting many youths have joined the mainstream in recent years.

Shah reaffirmed the BJP-AGP alliance as strong, as campaigning reaches its final phase before voting.
