Alleged Bribery for Birth Certificates at Mukalmua Civil Hospital

Allegations of corruption have emerged at Mukalmua Subdivisional Civil Hospital in Assam’s Nalbari district, where staff members are accused of demanding money from poor families for issuing birth certificates.
The issue surfaced after Azmina Begum of Mugdi village alleged that she was asked to pay Rs 500 for her child’s birth certificate, despite submitting documents within the legally allowed period that requires only a nominal fee.
The allegations have been made against junior assistant Mormee (Mamoni) Deka and her husband Dhanjit Das, who is also accused of interfering in official work. Locals have demanded a proper investigation into the matter.
